The Never Ending Book List

I add books to my “to-read” list faster than I can read. Does anyone else have this problem?

Now, I consider myself to be a fairly fast reader. I read on average a book a week (depending on work and free time). My current list on Good Reads is over 259 and that doesn’t include series, spin-offs, sequels or novellas. So in theory, it would take me nearly 65 months to read them all if I stick to my usual pace of a book a week – that’s 5.5 years! D:

So what’s a girl to do? Books are flying out of the publishing houses faster than I can keep up and I don’t even know how many self-published amazon freebies are sitting the in queue. What’s a girl to do? It’s exhausting!

Part of my strategy is to wait until entire series are finished before I pick up book 1. I did it with Earth Girl and Daughter of Smoke and Bone, for example. I hate cliffhangers and seeing a release date over a year away is enough to make me crazy.

Sometimes I want to stop checking out the new releases and work backwards. Put myself in a time bubble and not come out until I’ve caught up. But then I’d be in the same situation in no time, once I see the 5.5 year’s worth of books I’ve missed!

Darn you talented authors for taking up all of my free time!

Just kidding. Please never stop writing, because I’ll never stop reading.
